My investigations into the Amazon Kindle have yielded some names. And I plan to follow up on this very soon. But in the meantime, Simon Owens has presented us with a observation so patently obvious that it appears to have been overlooked by everyone:
What good is a blog if you can’t click on outbound links?
That’s actually a really good question. The blog subscription has seemed like the weakest part of the Kindle package to me, and I’m not sure it’s something I’d be too interested in, in any case. I still think a lot of the other arguments against the Kindle have been more against e-readers in general than this one in particular. Certainly this one’s not without faults, and I’m not rushing out to buy one (not at those prices). But it does sound like, with a few kinks worked out, a few features added or tweaked, and the buy-in cost substantially reduced, Amazon might have a decent product on their hands.
Although here’s another potential drawback to the reader that I haven’t seen anybody else talking about — it’s designed only with righties in mind:

That vast rumble you just heard across the city was 10,000 early adopters going “DOH!!” when they found out…
