Oh, cool. I’m pretty sure it grew out of the short story “Tourists,” which was wonderfulwonderfulwonderful, and substantially better than Light. Looking forward to reading the novel.
“Tourism” (still online) is actually the first chapter of Nova Swing (give or take some revision).
