Biographer William Manchester, who recently handed over the reins to Paul Reid to finish the third book of The Last Lion, his highly lauded Winston Churchill series, has passed away at 82.
Posted by DrMabuse at June 1, 2004 09:44 AMA fact not mentioned in the linked article: Manchester's first book was an entertaining biography of H.L. Mencken, "Disturber of the Peace: The Life of H.L. Mencken." I recall it as being a good read, although Terry Teachout's much more recent biography is better, in my opinion.
